How to receive funding
01
Assessment and identification of needs
The participant's support coordinator or planner identifies the need for behaviour support based on the participant's goals, challenges, and behaviours of concern.
The participant may be referred for a behaviour assessment to gather more information about their behaviour and support requirements.
02
Behaviour support plan development
A behaviour support practitioner, such as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, conducts a consultation report to investigate whether there is a presentation of any behaviours of concern.
03
Plan submission and review
The consultation report is submitted to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) or the relevant funding body for review.
The plan is reviewed by the NDIA or the funding body to ensure it aligns with the guidelines and funding criteria for behaviour support.
04
Funding allocation
If the consultation report is approved, the participant's plan is updated to include funding specifically allocated for behaviour support.
The allocated funding can be used to access behaviour support services, including assessments, consultations, and interventions.
Referral
Alternatively, a participant may receive funding allocation for behaviour support on the recommendation of another allied health professional, such as a psychologist, or occupational therapist.
